System Requirements
Beat Banger is a 2D rhythm game, so it runs comfortably on most modern hardware. There is one important CPU requirement worth checking before you buy.

CPU compatibility
Beat Banger is built with Godot 4.7, and Godot 4.5 and newer require a CPU that supports the SSE4.2 instruction set for 64 bit builds. In practice that means:
- Intel first generation Core i series from around 2009 or newer
- AMD Bulldozer from around 2011 or newer
Almost every processor from the last decade supports SSE4.2, so the vast majority of players are unaffected.
Older CPUs are no longer supported
If your processor is older than roughly 2009 to 2011 and lacks SSE4.2, the game will fail to launch. It usually crashes immediately, sometimes with an illegal instruction error.
Earlier versions of Beat Banger ran on Godot 4.4 and older, which did not have this requirement. We have since upgraded the engine to deliver new features and improvements, and downgrading is not possible. This is a limitation in the engine itself that we cannot work around, so unfortunately processors older than about 2009 to 2011 can no longer run current versions of the game.

Installing on MacOS
If you're having trouble geting beat banger running on MacOS try opening the terminal and running chmod +x on the executable file and xattr -cr on the .app file.
